Vertical Motion: IPC presents an integrated approach to motion control at SPS Italia 2026
At SPS Italia 2026, IPC presented Vertical Motion, a project that introduces a more integrated approach to motion control and to the management of the entire motion chain.
IPC’s participation in the exhibition ended with a very positive response, confirmed by the strong interest shown by visitors and by the many new contacts established with companies, machine builders and system integrators. Beyond the results achieved during the event, SPS 2026 represented an important opportunity for IPC to share a new direction: evolving from a component supplier into a technical partner for the development of complete motion solutions, capable of supporting customers from the earliest design stages.
In this sense, Vertical Motion also expresses a new positioning for IPC: not only technology distribution, but application expertise, integration support and the ability to contribute to the definition of the overall system architecture.
A new approach to motion control
Motion control is evolving.
Market demand is no longer focused only on the selection of individual components — motors, drives, gearboxes, controllers or interfaces — but increasingly on the ability to build more organic systems, designed to work together from the very beginning. In this scenario, it is becoming increasingly important to reduce integration complexity, improve continuity between the different parts of the system and provide technical support capable of guiding the customer throughout the entire application journey.
This is the vision behind Vertical Motion.
It is not simply a product line, but an integrated technological structure that connects HMIs, controllers, servo systems, stepper motors, integrated drives, mechanics and gearboxes into an ecosystem designed to respond more completely to the needs of industrial automation. During SPS Italia 2026, this approach received significant interest. Dialogue with visitors confirmed a clear trend: companies are increasingly looking for technical partners able to support them not only in component selection, but also in the definition of the entire motion architecture.
Design-In: entering the project from the beginning
One of the central elements of Vertical Motion is the concept of Design-In.
For IPC, Design-In means supporting customers in the early stages of development, when technology choices, machine architectures and system performance requirements are defined. This approach makes it possible to evaluate the most suitable solution from the outset, optimizing the integration between control, drive, motor and mechanics. The result is a more effective process, with reduced downstream complexity and greater consistency between design, application and expected performance.
Vertical Motion was created precisely to support this model: not to intervene only when a component needs to be selected, but to contribute to the development of the technical solution as a whole.
From component to system
Vertical Motion stems from the transition from a product-based logic to a broader system-oriented vision. The goal is to interpret the motion chain as a continuous flow: from command to mechanics, from electronics to software, all the way to the final application.
This makes it possible to create a common language between the different technologies involved and to offer more coherent solutions for sectors with different requirements, but united by the need to increase precision, efficiency and development speed. Automation, packaging, robotics, intralogistics, medical, semiconductors and automatic machines are some of the fields where this approach can help simplify design and improve overall system performance.
IPC and MOONS’: global technology, local presence
At the heart of Vertical Motion is the long-standing collaboration between IPC and MOONS’, a partnership built over more than thirty years of working together.
MOONS’ represents the technological and engineering foundation of the project, thanks to its capabilities in development, innovation and manufacturing. IPC brings this technology to the Italian market through application expertise, customer proximity and technical support.
This balance between global vision and local presence took on particular significance at SPS 2026, also thanks to the presence of MOONS’ President, Mr. James Chang.
SPS 2026: a starting point
IPC’s participation in SPS Italia 2026 confirmed the value of the path the company has undertaken. The interest generated during the exhibition represents an incentive to continue developing increasingly integrated, intelligent and high-performance solutions, capable of meeting the real needs of machine builders and automation professionals.
IPC would like to thank all customers, companies, visitors and partners who visited the stand and shared ideas, projects and new opportunities.
With Vertical Motion, IPC presents a more complete way of interpreting motion control: not only as a set of technologies, but as a system serving automation and its real-world applications. This is the direction behind IPC’s new positioning: to be a reference partner for those who design machines, systems and applications where motion is not only a technical function, but a central part of the value of the solution.
